BinRun Technologies Inc. ("Bin Run," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Bin Run mobile application and the website at binruns.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, your rights, and how we protect it.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada).
1. Who We Are
BinRun Technologies Inc. is a federally incorporated Canadian company (Canada Business Corporations Act). Our registered office is located in Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada.

2. Who This Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Customers who use the Service to book waste collection.
- Haulers (independent contractors) who use the Service to accept and fulfill collection jobs.
- Visitors to binruns.com.
Different sections may apply differently depending on your role. Where relevant, this is noted.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide to Us
When you create an account or use the Service, you provide:
- Identity information: First name, last name, date of birth (haulers only).
- Contact information: Email address, phone number, mailing or service address.
- Account credentials: Password (stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash; we never see or store your password in readable form).
- Payment information: For customers, payment card details handled directly by our payment processor. For haulers, banking details required to receive payouts, handled directly by our payment processor.
- Profile information (haulers): Vehicle type, service area, profile photo, and any documentation required to verify eligibility to operate as an independent contractor.
- Booking information: Pickup address, scheduled time, special instructions, photos of waste items where provided.
- Communications: Messages, support requests, and feedback you send us.
3.2 Information We Collect Automatically
When you use the Service:
- Device and technical information: Device type, operating system version, app version, device identifiers, language, time zone.
- Location information:
- For customers: location data when you grant permission, used to suggest pickup addresses and confirm service area eligibility.
- For haulers: location data is collected continuously while you are on-shift in order to match you with nearby jobs, navigate to pickups, and verify completion of jobs.
- Haulers may revoke location permission at any time, but doing so will prevent the Service from functioning for them.
- Usage information: Pages and screens viewed, features used, taps, session duration, crash reports, performance metrics.
- Log data: IP address, access times, error logs.
3.3 Information We Collect from Third Parties
- Payment processor (Stripe): Confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, last 4 digits of the card used, transaction identifiers. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
- Authentication providers: If you sign in via a third-party provider (when offered), we receive the identifier and email associated with that account.
3.4 Photos
When you take or upload a photo of items for collection (or, for haulers, a photo confirming completion), the photo is uploaded to our cloud storage and associated with the relevant booking. Photos may include incidental information about the property where collection occurs.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To provide the Service: Create and manage your account, process bookings, match customers with haulers, calculate prices, process payments, and confirm completion of jobs.
- To communicate with you: Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, booking confirmations, receipts), push notifications about your bookings, and customer support responses.
- To process payments: Charge customers, pay out haulers (80% of the booking value, net of payment processor fees), and remit applicable taxes.
- To improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns, debug errors, monitor performance, and develop new features.
- For safety and trust: Verify identities, prevent fraud, investigate complaints, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect users from abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations: Tax reporting (including issuing T4A slips to haulers where required), responding to lawful requests from authorities, and meeting recordkeeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your personal information for advertising directed to you on third-party platforms.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
We collect and use your personal information based on:
- Performance of a contract: To provide the Service you requested.
- Consent: Where you have explicitly opted in (for example, granting location access).
- Legal obligation: To meet tax, financial reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
- Legitimate interests: To prevent fraud, ensure platform safety, debug and improve the Service, and operate our business — provided these interests do not override your rights.
You may withdraw consent for any optional data processing at any time by contacting contact@binruns.com or by changing your in-app settings. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from delivering parts or all of the Service.
6. Who We Share Your Information With
We share personal information only as described below:
6.1 Other Users of the Service
- When you book a collection, the assigned hauler receives your name, pickup address, phone number (for coordination), scheduled time, special instructions, and any photos you uploaded.
- Customers see the hauler's first name and, where applicable, vehicle and arrival information.
6.2 Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers, each of whom processes personal information on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations:

These providers may store and process personal information in countries outside Canada, including the United States. The privacy laws in those countries may differ from Canadian law, and personal information may be accessible to foreign authorities under their applicable laws. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.
6.3 Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose personal information without your consent where required or permitted by law, including:
- To comply with a court order, subpoena, or other lawful request from a government authority.
- To enforce our Terms of Service.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Bin Run, our users, or others.
- In connection with the investigation, prevention, or response to fraud, security incidents, or illegal activity.
6.4 Business Transfers
If BinRun Technologies Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and meet our legal obligations:
- Account information: Retained for the life of your account, plus seven (7) years after deletion to meet Canadian financial recordkeeping obligations.
- Booking and payment records: Retained for seven (7) years from the date of the transaction (Canada Revenue Agency requirement).
- Photos: Retained for ninety (90) days after the relevant booking is completed, then automatically deleted unless required for an open dispute or investigation.
- Communications and support records: Retained for two (2) years from the date of the last interaction.
- Marketing communications consent and opt-out records: Retained for as long as you have an account and three (3) years after, to honor your preferences.
When personal information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
8. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Delete your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations described above.
- Withdraw consent for processing based on consent.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a copy of your personal information in a portable, machine-readable format.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@binruns.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within thirty (30) days.
We may need to verify your identity before responding, to protect your information from unauthorized disclosure.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
- Access controls limiting employee and contractor access to personal information on a need-to-know basis.
- Hashing of passwords using one-way cryptographic algorithms.
- Use of established cloud infrastructure providers (Google Firebase, Stripe) that maintain SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS certifications as applicable.
- Logging and monitoring of access to personal information.
No security measure is perfect. If we become aware of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate regulatory authorities as required by law.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to or intended for individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under eighteen, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at contact@binruns.com.
11. Cookies and Tracking
The Bin Run mobile application does not use third-party advertising trackers and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites. We do not implement Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not engage in cross-app tracking.
The binruns.com website uses only essential cookies required for the website to function. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies on the marketing website at this time. If this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide a cookie management interface.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
- For material changes, notify you in-app and by email at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect, where reasonably practicable.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
